Memorable November

Looking back to my very last post, it was like two months ago. It was kind of busy those days I guess despite there were still free times to post and i was just too lazy. Well, this November was just too eventful. At first, it was my Masters Graduation Ceremony which falls on the 11th.. Then my family members flew all the way here to attend the ceremony eventually. My seniors had their marriage registration exactly on the day of my graduation. The remaining days no doubt would be travelling with my family.

So, I'm not going to recite every little bit of the days just because of my mental retardation recently. Yea.. try sitting in front of the laptop the whole day and you would probably turn to me, i assure you. I deeply believe that pictures always always do the best talk and me personally agree that 'Pictures worth million words'. Get this phrase from one of the blogs I visited. Ok.. stop crapping and picturesss..

the SPECIAL GATHERING

It was last Sunday
We, the TARC Buildings' Student
had gathered up with one of our lecturer in college
~ Ar. Wong ~

He was our contract administration's lecturer for 2 sems
He came to visit her daughter who is studying in Uni. of Sheffield
One of my quite senior somehow knew his arrival
and so organised this gathering

Embarrassingly I was not in the list actually
it was one day before when one of my seniors rang me up for a meet
and I get to know the news in the talk..
He then asked me to go
and without hesitation, I'm on.. lol

That lovely evening
about 16 of us turned up
among them.. hehe.. I'm the youngest one.. again..
graduated on 2008...
The three most 'seniors' were graduated on year 2003..
Others were in between...

Well, he can't really recognised me..
familiar faces he said...
It's not surprise anyway since
I'm not the very good nor very bad student
who probably will left a deep impression

Hmm..
I believe everyone had a great evening,
great dinner with Ar. Wong
and I would like to say

for being our lecturer
You have been a great teacher..

Just submitted my project dissertation on Thursday
my final assessment for my Masters..
waiting for the result eventually..

I came across my friend's msn PM

and eventually I clicked on it

Basically it is a short film competition
organised by BMW which is well known by its luxury cars
"BMW SHORTIES" this is the competition's name
Shorties simply means short film I guess and not a person who's short.. lol
So if I'm not mistaken, this year is their third year they having this
The feedback from 2 years back was good
as it provides a platform for young people who is interested in making film
to show their master piece

Currently, this competition has reached the stage of Top 9
Some of the shorties that I have given my vote to are shown below
They simply caught my attention and I thought they were just meaningful

I'm back

Its been a month i have left this blog into a slumber
Intended and attempted to update many times and
eventually today only I got myself pretty free
still.. have a dinner with juniors in the evening

Yes, Juniors!!
I have got juniors now here in Sheffield
Just a blink of eyes
I've been staying in UK for a year and a month
and another bunch summer students which I used to be
have flooded the whole city
This is one of the reason why I was busy I guess...

Met a lot friends here...
Classmates who didn't join last year, all turned up
Friends known during events
and especially my lovely ex-housemates in College
They are all here!!
So happy and glad all of them are here

Meanwhile,
Many friends and senior known here gone back Malaysia
I would like to say thank you to all of them
for caring me this little brother in any way

Alright, the other thing that I wanna say is that
I was a so called coach leader
leading a coach for day trips organised by a senior
Already been to York, Cambridge and Manchester
Blackpool will probably my next trip

Went to London for 3 days last Wednesday
Main purpose was to attend Cannie's graduation on the next day in Oxford
Well, I met up my secondary schoolmates in London..
Will go more details in other post

Another thing which bother most of my time
is that I got an extra 20 hours part time job to do weekly
A panel wireman.. hmm
Rough work.. in a workshop..

I have passed my exam
but with the worst results I have never got..

all the clothes were actually hanging in the middle of the medium

Can't really find out what's going on
I tried to ask my this lecturer, Mr Norman
He told me that
this is all depends on what you think for it
He thought that it was like two apartments block at both sides

This coming exam

I will be having 3 papers this time
started from 14, 19 and 21 respectively
After this, no more struggling for exam

Am I feeling excited or sad?
hmm...
I know I should feel happy and exciting
rather to be honest
I am quite upset indeed
cause there will be no school life anymore
have to get well prepared into another stage of my life

Anyway its still early to plan that ahead
I should pay my full concentration on my revision
for final exam next week!

Today
Frankie and Yuen Fong's Marriage Registration Day
here in Sheffield Town Hall

Never thought that I would attend this kind of event in Sheffield
Cause I not even been to such event back home
Really thanks a lot for the invitation
Well, I was there to be the photographer
I know them not long ago..
thus at least I got some sort of contribution.. lol

Anyway I was so glad that I could capture their precious moment
but at the same I was quite sorry that
I couldn't find a SLR as I promised
End up I have no choice to use my own Lumix Compact Camera
Fortunately that, there was another cameraman
with a professional shooting kit..
Otherwise.....!

Alright, I'm not gonna say every little things throughout the day
Basically the rundown was like this

8am Preparation
10.30am Marriage Registration in Town Hall
12.00pm Lunch in Zing Vaa Restaurant
3pm Photo Session at Peace Garden

the UNEXPECTED; COURAGE

Today I was supposed to have a lunch with my colleagues
so things gone like this
I received a call from Kelvin telling me that
Rachel's - my lady boss car had arrived right opposite my house
and right away I left my house and went into the car

Just the second I get myself seated
one of my colleagues.. we called her Sis Ha
she came towards us and told us that
another colleague of mine, Sis Yong
her daughter just fell off from the steep steep staircase

Right at the moment
we quickly jumped out from the car
and were heading to her house which is just steps away
So then we were right in front of the girl's room
seeing her laying on her bed

After some Q&A session knowing what's going on
we decided to send her to the hospital
However when she stepped in to the living room downstairs
straight away without any signal at all
she just 'poom' lied down on the sofa
Then she told us she felt pain over the neck and the back

In this case, to avoid any big movement that would possibly occur
to the girl, we decided to call ambulance
'999' pressed by Rachel and passed over to Kelvin to deal with
You know what.. they were just too efficient
When Kelvin was still talking over the phone
the ambulance arrived

Again another Q&A between the ambulanceman with her parents
with some help of translation by us
Then they moved her to a hard board
with her neck still by the collar

After that her dad and I followed onto the ambulance
while Rachel and her mum followed up behind
Probably I was on the ambulance to help up some translation
cause they weren't so good in English
neither do I, but at least...

Reached Sheffield Children Hospital near Sheffield University
Settled us at an unit of bed in a room
Waiting for the doctor for quite a time
possibly because she was not that serious and emergency

Here was the doctor
Went through a series of procedural questions
Reminded me of some scientific terms learnt during high school
Return to the waiting mode again

After a time again
she was arranged for x-ray scanning
probably to check on any bones fracture or stuff like that
and before that she was undress by cutting her clothes
Finish scanning she was sent back to the room

Good news from the x-ray pieces
but something bad when the doctor discovered that
her plastered lower lips was severely injured
3 very very deep cut can be seen from her lips
wondering how she fell off the stairs

Eventually the only thing can be done was..
STITCH(ES)!!!
Then we were brought to the operation room
and operation started
First Stitch....
Second Stitch....
Third Stitch....
Full of courage
not even a single painful voice
DONE! Good girl..
Her mum feel like fainting watching her daughter
and left the room during the stitching

Finally everything done..
but still she need to be observed
since she was feeling dizzy still
Then, she was pushed to the ward

Guess who I met there?
A Malaysian Chinese Doctor!!
She told that she is from Old Klang Road!!
So near to my house wey...

About 7 in the evening
Rachel and I left them and went for dinner
Cause our Malaysian's Doc can speak Cantonese
So no problem with the conversation.. we left

Had dinner and went to Rachel house
to help on setting up their new desktop
Back home around 11...

and in fact this day was not her exact day
but we decided to celebrate for her in advance

the MAGGIE'S VISIT

This was a week ago
when Maggie spent 3 days for her Easter Holiday in Sheffield
She was a friend of Su Shin from hometown
and apparently I just knew her through this night

So at the night I found out that I was the only guy for the dinner
never thought of that indeed I was expecting there should be others
Absolutely nothing wrong having dinner with 5 pretties..

the DEEP BREATHING DAY

It's been quite a time I guess

since like couple weeks ago
I had a post on the leaving of our lovely housemates
then I have been so so darn busy with the assignments
which makes me well crazy that times..
That's a thing definitely for last minute works

It was really really tough time for me..
but it didn't seems so for some of my friends
cause they were like just seeing me relax,
singing like nobody there around
playing with my little guitars
spending times tapping on the electronic keyboard
catching up the endless dramas, movies I have
and you know what
those stuff were actually kind of tension relieving
Do you believe it? *hesitating...
Better believe it.. LOL

Well, ignore the fact that it was a grasping period though
there were still something on
Firstly, we have our oldest one in my house birthday party
alright alright.. the most matured one indeed.. sounds better..
Then, we have this pretty new housemate moved in
and had a sort of welcoming dinner at restaurant days ago..
Went clubbing when I was just about to submit an assignment day after
and that's it I guess..

Hmm.. Anyway I'm gonna share these one by one in my later post

Something about what I did today

I ate seafood for my lunch
which is supposed to be eaten with the guys at home yesterday
and I just had dinner with my classmates after class
So probably they left me with a dish of crabs, 'lala', prawn..
Here it is and it was so so delicious!! Mamma Mia..
Miss the seafood in Klang..

After that I went Uni to submit my last last assignment.. (took a deep breath)
Attended the class after waving in the library for 2 hours
Back home to have my dinner

Yes, Chicken Curry..
Took this with a newly installed application in my iPhone
I just have myself finish watching two movies
concentratingly with full screen, lights off..
- YES MAN and Marley and Me -
Both were great movies
Really learnt quite a lot from them

I love this one from Yes Man:

Basically you say yes always to opportunities
and saying no when that's not you wanted to

On the other hand
for those who love doggies
especially to those who actually having a dog as pet at house
Marley and Me will be the movie that you definitely not going to miss out
I would strongly recommend this
It was such a touching story though I'm not so into 'dog'
Honestly I was about to shed my tears out.. sob sob..
The story was too real that I believe
many people have been gone through it before..

the NIGHT4KIEW

One of my lovely housemates, KIEW is going to leave this house
all the way back to Malaysia on the coming Wednesday
So we decided to have something quite special, surprise for her
I should say there was a part that was not so related to her leaving indeed
but anyway they were something from all of us

So everyone was gathered in the living room as usual
after work, shower, whatsoever then
First to came up, was an extraordinary gift for her

Ta da..!!
It was a pair of NIKE shoes.. and you know what
This was exactly the pair that she aimed at
while we were shopping couple days ago
and wished to grab it before back
Eventually, we bought that for her..
She was so so extremely happy and touched
at the moment she saw that shoes, shocked and surprised
(feel like, hope she really did) Hope she likes it..!! ^^

After that, it was supper time..
Since Xing promised her to do 'NO MAI KAI'
dunno what its called in English
'Chicken Sticky Rice'?? sounds funny right but anyway here it is...

Upon finishing up the delicacy
we were like confabulating with each other
chit chatting about how we came together to this house
what we thought of each other when we first met
and many many things else..
I guess everyone have lotsa fun.. hehe ☺

Saw this quite interesting

iStethoscope

As described, it can be used to listen to the heartbeat
by gently pressing the microphone exactly over the artery
which is on the neck or directly on the chest
So it turns the iPhone into a stethoscope
Without hesitation, I have downloaded and installed
It was a free app further.. so why not?

And you know what..
This really works!!
You can easily listen to the heartbeat clearly!

Not very sure whether this can be used for diagnosis purpose
but anyway it's for fun..

Right after my class over
I went to meet up my colleagues with my senior
at Pho 68 Viatnamese Cafe to have our dinner
since we never have a dinner together
though we have been working together for quite a period of time
somehow also because of my birthday
thereby we came together for a dinner

For this day

We planned for movie
so I searched though my iPhone app
and I found this movie quite attracting
'My Bloody Valentine' in 3D

By looking at the trailer
eventually we decided to watch it in Cineworld
at a place called Valley Centertainment
I heard this place for quite a time
but this was my first time been there

So something about the movie
It was a horror 18 rated movie
The storyline was normal
But overall it was quite thrilling with the 3D effects
The most interesting part I think was the 'erotic' part
Since it was rated as 18, so it was an uncut version unlike in M'sia
This was my first time to watch such kind of movie in 3D

That's for the movie
Next on, we walked into the bowling center
and...... we bowling
For 2 games we played and
that's my day... ^^

Today was my Chinese Calender's Birthday
the seventh day of the Chinese New Year
so called People's Day (人日)
which means everyone birthday
but also exactly my birthday as well.....

The culture of Malaysian Chinese
used to be having a dinner
either with family or friends
and we will - 'Lou Sang' (捞生)
craving for better future prospects
After asking those Chinese from HK or China
only we knew that this is the culture
practiced only by Malaysian and Singaporean
and there it goes, our UK version of celebrating

we reached our destination on 12noon

So, today I went to Meadowhall for a walk with my housemates
and a reunion dinner in Wong Ting Restaurant

This year I have no choice but to get over this in UK
probably in my workplace
because all the table in the restaurant was fully reserved
This night all people were served with a special CNY banquet
with starters, main course and desserts
We even have few programs for the night
About half past eight we have lion dance performance
by Sheffield Chinese Community
It was an awesome show which wins the applause from all the diners
After that we have a singer to sing for us till late
Of course, it was English songs he sang
All around, everyone had fun this night

the EXAM'S THOUGHT

After two weeks of hard work and struggling (I suppose I was)
and yes, exam's over
So how was the exam goes?
Hmm.. Definitely not that easy
Rather I should say the style of study
is quite different back from college

Just a simple quote like previously
as usual lecturer will give some 'guidance'
and the answer often can be found in the lecture's notes
and that's the only answer which will be given marks
Contrary what we encountered now is that guidance still given
but the answer will much much depend on your research
how you evaluate and use it on the exam

Not sure whether is this the difference of study culture
or simply the difference of level..
But anyway I think the exam should be alright (hopefully)
So this is about my exam

So, the cake above was purposely baked by my colleague
to be eaten during our supper
This night was the busiest night since I worked here
2 sessions we have for this night
the 1st one was from 7pm - 9pm
and the 2nd was from 9pm to late
Both sessions were full of reservations
Apparently, I have stepped into the new year
in my work place with all the diners
Well, we had shouted for countdown
together we welcome a brand new year of 2009
and hand-in-hand they sang 'Auld Lang Syne' eventually

Oct - Started my postgraduate course
Msc in Project Management in SHU

Planning for year 2009

Continuing my postgraduate till Sep and in details
Feb - May will be having 2nd Semester study
June - Sep will be doing dissertation
Convocation will be on Nov
If possible, probably will be back to M'sia
either on Dec or next year Jan

It was a shopping day and a time where stores have sales
often with dramatic in price decrease
So we have decided to spend our shopping day at Birmingham
Bullring and Selfridges&Co. were the shopping complex
that we chose to shop at since it is the landmark for Birmingham
About 2 hours car trip from Sheffield
and we reached there on about half past eight
Thought we were the earliest at first
But seems like they were many 'shoppers' went earlier than us

This was my first time celebrate Christmas in UK
My house came three guests to join our christmas party
They were Xerri, Bei Yi and Chrislyn
Before doing any preparation for the party
we went for a walk to Norflok Park

Back home at around 4pm
Prepare for the party
This party we will have steamboat as our dinner

We were preparing 'tang yuan' as our dessert
and a late celebration for 'Dong Zhi'
which is supposed to be on last Sunday

found a parking lot and open up their car boots to start their business

I have been working part time here as a waiter in a chinese restaurant
named 'BEIJING CITY' located somewhere at Greenhill
for about 5 weeks (every friday and saturday evening)

It takes me about 20 minutes to reach there by bus

Anyway today was a big day for the restaurant
It was one of my colleague - Sis Ha's birthday
So some sort of small celebration is thrown out
Well, it was a warm and happy dinner
All of us were full of 'dumplings' and fried chicken
served with a couple glass of red wine

After a month of
seeing those luggage put in my room reducing
keep on sending off my friend back M'sia respectively
Finally my Msc course started yesterday

Basically, this semester
I am going to have 4 modules
Then, class time is on
Monday to Thursday
6pm - 8.30pm
Yea, it's all night class scheduled
to fit those part time students

There are only 2 students including me
from my batch enrolled to this intake
The rest from TARC is all my seniors
Students for this course is mainly
comes from India and Malaysia
and there are some from
Hong Kong, Nigeria, China and UK itself

So..
